Understanding your condition, your treatment, and your options
Living with a bleeding or clotting disorder can feel overwhelming, but trusted information makes a difference. This page brings together patient resources on women's bleeding and clotting disorders from the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, World Thrombosis Day and collaborative partner organizations to help you better understand your diagnosis, learn about prevention and explore treatment options.
Whether you are newly diagnosed with a condition like von Willebrand disease, deep vein thrombosis or heavy menstrual bleeding, or have been managing your condition for years, these materials provide clear, medically accurate information to help you make informed decisions and have more confident conversations with your care team.

Healthcare professionals are also encouraged to use and share these resources with patients as a supplement to clinical care. Accessible, condition-specific information can make a meaningful difference in how patients understand and manage bleeding and clotting disorders.
Understanding bleeding disorders
Understanding a bleeding disorder — from diagnosis to day-to-day management — starts with having the right information. In partnership with the Foundation for Women and Girls with Bleeding Disorders, ISTH has compiled resources to help patients learn about conditions such as von Willebrand disease, hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders, including how they uniquely affect women and girls. Visit the Foundation for Women and Girls with Bleeding Disorders at fwgbd.org for additional support, community and advocacy resources.
