Thrombosis awareness resources for women available through World Thrombosis Day

World Thrombosis Day

World Thrombosis Day, held annually on Oct. 13, is a global campaign led by ISTH that unites more than 4,000 partner organizations across 190 countries to raise awareness of the life-threatening risks of blood clots. In 2026, the campaign turns its focus to women's health, spotlighting how thrombosis and hemostasis conditions uniquely affect women across all stages of life, from menstruation and pregnancy to menopause and beyond.

World Hemophilia Day

World Hemophilia Day, observed every April 17, raises global awareness of hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders,  including those that disproportionately affect women and girls. While hemophilia is often thought of as a condition that only affects males, women can be carriers and may experience significant bleeding symptoms, including heavy menstrual bleeding, postpartum hemorrhage, and prolonged bleeding after surgery or injury. This day serves as an important reminder that women with bleeding disorders deserve timely diagnosis, specialized care, and access to hemophilia treatment centers and hematology services.
